1. Notice something so objectionable that requires an immediate ban.
2. In the channel, check which mod if any has posted recently. If none, try your luck with ones known for being active in support.
3. Ping them. [thread link] [mod name] [ban reason] all in a single line. No sys links, and make sure you're linking to the right post in a thread.
4. Wait. If there's no reply or the thread hasn't gone 404 in 3-5 minutes, file a ban request in the report system.
Ban requests are the last measure since they keep piling up. Remember that the most important thing is to delete CP and other illegal materials as soon as possible, do not leave a thread around if there are no mods available.
Dealing with serial ban evaders.
You finally got a really annoying pest banned, and before you even get to dance a victory jig they're back. You can get them a permanent ban this time for ban evasion, but we know that they will evade this and any future bans.
Post in >>1697 all the information you know about them for the benefit of the rest of the team.
That's pretty much it. Keep deleting them on sight and hope that weeks of constant oppression will make them leave. Turn your mind to steel and delete. Delete fast, delete hard.
Although it depends on the situation, it's suggested to delete those that reply to the ban evader as well. Responding to infamous posters only feeds them and can even lead to a ban if extreme enough.
If things keep getting worse, request to the manager to add them to global blacklist/filter.
"Ironic shitposting" is a new hip thing, it's used to mock users and the common pattern is usually pseudo-quoting with poor spelling, overuse of fancy emoticons and capslock. If you notice people posting that way, delete their posts immediately, it could derail entire threads.
A notable example would be the "WHATA FUCK MAN xD"-copypasta.
Even though "ironic shitposting" has become very popular lately, there are still a few users who legitimately use emoticons such as "xD" or ":D". These posts should not be deleted, as they are not breaking any rule. Yet there are some users who might redirect them to other communities, like Reddit or Gaia. They usually point out that the user used an emoticon and some would even start to derail threads. If that happens, try to delete every irrelevant off-topic post. If there is really no hope, delete the post that originally had the emoticon to prevent future shitstorms.
Anons routinely report OP as a way of informing you the thread's gone cancerous (rather than reporting the offending posts themselves), so if an OP looks like you'd just hit Clear, check out the most recent posts ITT.
Commonly reposted shock images like babyshit.gif are intentionally regenerated with unique MD5 sums each time they're posted so that they can't be detected automatically by the board.
If you are dealing with someone who continuously re-creates a rule breaking thread sometimes the best course of action is to ask a mod to put that thread on permasage. The shitposter will sage his thread right off the board and when they look at the archive it won't show as a deletion so they can't bitch at you.
