This thread is for discussing current trends and problems with /v/, and also /v/ specific advice.
>>
First things first

Gurrrl Gamer and (anti) Feminism threads have gotten wildly out of hand. I'm not sure how this whole thing started but the current topic of discussion seems to be Felicia Day and her (lack of) contribution to gaming, and then some other women from youtube chiming in about the status of female gamers.

Anyway these threads have basically been going on for months and while the specific topic changes they're always bitching about women/female gamers in one form or another.

My policy thus far has to only delete them when there are several threads up or they've devolved into "check my 5."

I'm not sure what the official ruling is on whether threads like this are allowed in moderation or should just be deleted on sight, I just thought its a problem that hasn't been discussed much and might warrant some serious attention.

A few other minor things

-Neptunia threads are a known issue, they are allowed on /v/ because they don't have enough of a following to warrant a general on /vg/, however, there is a vocal shitposting minority who likes to do everything in their power to derail these threads.

-PC Master Race/Console comparison (war) threads. I know the rules say fanboism and flamewars are not to be tolerated, but it seems at this point these threads are pretty much allowed to a certain degree. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but they're very prevalent. My personal view is to delete them if there is no legitimate or interesting (subjective) discussion taking place.

-Non vidya/Barely vidya Rage threads. I'm not sure if these fall under board culture or not, I tend to let them go unless its dominated by reddit shit.

Neptunia threads have generals on /vg/ now and have for the last month. Send them this way. >>>/vg/

If it starts off with something like a Facebook-comment imagecap, you can bet the majority of the thread is the same.

Facebook/9gag/Reddit/Funnyjunk are not Vidya. They can take that elsewhere.

Some really dumb people make video game threads and then wait til they get some replies, delete them, and then use it to complain about mods/janitors being shitty.

i had to cut out a significant portion of the thread in the image, full thread is here http://archive.foolz.us/q/thread/68183/#68183

Game Grump threads need to be culled sometimes so that there are only one or two of them at a time.

Usually the more active ones are to be left alone.

Also, some people intentionally make multiple/repost them after deletion, so it's another "one guy stirring shit" thing, much like the Neptunia threads.

So yeah, pretty much confirmed that all the in-thread shitposting in the Neptunia, Yume Nikki and other various Jappo-vidya threads are all done by the same 2-3 people (varies.)

They'll accuse anyone calling them out as "OP" as well, or people simply ignoring them and posting normally as "samefag OP."

They watch out for these particular threads all the fucking time, as though they are home all fucking day or something. Because of the sheer dedication of two-three guys, /v/ is under the impression that their own board seems to hate anything japanese now. So they've pretty much successfully tricked a good chunk of the board.

Oh, and Call of Duty threads are getting hit with shitposting as well, but not by the same small group.

Just general /v/irgins who can't contain their autism.

Just happened to me earlier today, shitposters flooded the thread with dubs and complained about "moeshit" or janitors.

They want to move them to /vg/ or get them banned--- I'm quoting some Anon here who reposted his post several times after deletion:
>welp, this is well on its way to reaching bump limit.
>
>By definition these threads are still recurring, and generals.
>
>There is no need for the shitposter to keep spamming here instead of posting on /vg/.
This really gave me the last shot, they don't want to see Neptunia on /v/.

I left the thread alone, as under /v/ rule 6, occasional "/vg/ material" is allowed. Pretty sure the thread was going to 404 naturally at around 200 posts if it weren't for the spammers. 80% of the thread was floodspam by the same three people.

Friendly reminder: Halo 4 and CoDBLOPS2 are still indeed vidya games. Don't give into the shitposters trying to derail them.
