I would like to seriously suggest /vg/ generals that have run their course be retired by staff. If a general can't sustain an adequate amount of topic related discussion then it's time for them to go and any new discussion to be sent back to /v/ unless it becomes a problem like before.

/vg/ in its current state is a bit of a laughing stock because not only are shitposters and random off topic "this is a chat room" posters are allowed to stay, but that's the precedent set.

Retiring generals like the KS or Mass Effect generals will set an opposite example that I think might help the boards improve tremendously.

Thoughts from fellow staffers? Preferably ones who frequent or are familiar with /vg/.

/vg/ autists are a special brand, no matter what you do they will continue.
>>
Take it from experience: You can and will never be able to stop them. I really hate to say this but containment is the best thing. Request the appropriate ban for their rulebreaking, but trying to stomp out this bee's hive will only force them to go else where. While I do not condone their rulebreaking, I rather them keep to themselves and their autistic ways in their own autistic thread. If they want to stray in to other areas, they will be punished for their shitposting and off-topic bullshit.

Keep it in one thread and let's not rile the autistic children. It's not easy, and not the answer isn't the best, but it's the truth.

I guess using that image might have given the wrong impression. I agree completely that the truly autistic shitposters of /vg/ are there for ever, and I don't mind dealing with them.

It was just a suggestion that might generally improve the board overall, and make things a little easier on /vg/ janitors in the long run.

As >>2472 said, /vg/ autists are a special brand, because it's a special board. It's the closer to a forum than any other board, so I think it needs to be treated a little differently.

Sure it might kick up the hornets nest to kill ME or KS generals, or even SC2 generals for that matter (returning SC discussion back to /v/), but I think that's a short term effect.

Anyways, just an idea.
>>
As another point you could always just say that's what you intend to do and we could see if there was any effect, without taking any action at all.
>>
As a final point because I'm going to wager mods don't dig the idea, and an updated perspective after discussing it with mods I'd like to point out the furry vn generals that occur on /vg/.

They are probably the only general I can actually get rid of. They go through great efforts to police themselves and make sure this doesn't happen. As a result, the quality is higher than other generals. Threads on /v/ or any other board can be deleted, generals can also be deleted but it's not to the same effect as deleting a thread off /v/, the two boards are just far too vastly different.

Being able to retire generals puts that tool back in /vg/ janitors hands.
