Well, I suppose a ruling is in order. If one has already been made and I missed the memo, I apologize in advance.

I'm sure the other /jp/ Janis know what I mean when I say "Gravure General". Obviously the "Net Idol General" is nothing but Milk dump and, well, no. Just no.

Gravure General, from what I've personally seen, is nothing more than /s/ dumps. The counter argument that is applied is to Touhou threads, that the claim are basically /c/ dumps.

As /jp/sies, we can go around and around all day on /q/ about what should go where and do what with whom, but is there an official Yes/No when it comes to image dumps? As some of you have seen of me, I have very little interest in what the users want. The monkeys shouldn't run the zoo.

But ... I've seen such things come and go here and there as time marches on and, well, I don't want to screw anyone over by removing something that I should have let stay.

Obviously, Touhou is fine. Specific Idol discussions are fine, AKB etc, and Milk can die in a fire. But, I'm a little iffy on the whole Gravure thing.

If someone would enlighten me, I would be most appreciative.

Over the years I've said the same thing over the grey area topics in /jp/: It's not about the topic itself, it's about the spam.

/jp/ has proven that they can discuss anime, videogame, light novels and gravure. Even JAV in rare occasions. And yet we bring down the hammer hard on the kuroko, on the siongirl.jpg, sena and so on.

In other words, Gravure is fine. DHAF trying to force it along with chakuero which is outright nsfw that fits better in other boards is not okay. And god knows we already are too flexible when it comes to nws, technically the censors are not good enough and should be posted in other image hosts and crosslinked, but it proved to do more harm to casual discussion than anything.

Point is that spam is the target regardless of topic. http://fuuka.warosu.org/jp/?task=search2&search_subject=gravure
They reacted as spammers, they're treated as such.

So now you're thinking why can't we be more consistent to their eyes and at least change the rules so it includes that gravure is okay if kept tasteful. And I say to you we have changed the rules of the board like no other and it changes nothing. The same 2 spammers keep reposting milk as Net Idol.

We could use a mod post in the ongoing /q/ thread but nobody wants to touch the board officially lest they trigger more problems. We've always talked of a native mod being a solution, but it would just escalate the attrition war further.

Once again, we have many issues and I no longer have solutions. We just try to keep up with the shitposting and keep the enclaves clean. It's the best we can hope for now.

tl;dr, whatever point they might had went out the window when they started spamming. Gravure is okay in moderation and with discussion, but right now it's impossible to have one without meta. Chakuero is not okay. /jp/ has bigger problems right now in the form of the endless war. A public post would be nice, but won't happen because nobody in moderation feels comfortable enough dealing with the board

Agreed. Gravure is pretty fine, honestly. It's still an otaku interest that can fly on the board, as long as it doesn't dominate it.

Alrighty and thank you both. I reckon for now I'll stay the course and see how she goes.

Abuse a privilege, lose a privilege. Makes perfect sense to me!

Thanks again for clarification. :3
