So, Japanese figurines/pvc. They're not specifically enumerated in the rules of /jp/ and /toy/ specifically says "no Japanese figurines".Obviously figs are very much a general Otaku interest, but we've had a couple of threads completely trashed by mass spam dumps from people who don't want them on /jp/.I'm wondering if the phrase "figurines (NO hot glue)" can be added to /jp/ rule 1. Unless, of course, there's some objection.
And, yes, I'm aware that the word "figures" appears; but it's worded strangely. It's a little thing, I know, but it's mostly for clarification.Unless, of course, only figs from LNs and VNs are permitted, I figure it's easier to allow general figs on /jp/ than it would be to change /toy/'s rules. And I swear I'm going to smash something if I have to type the word "fig" again.
They are majorly otaku culture and they've been cited as on-topic in the first moot post. They are as important as Touhou and VNs, in my opinion. No need for them to show up on rules.
>>2893I agree 100%. Just my inner OCD/autist keeps yelling about it. Like I said, it's a little thing.
Hello there. Theres just a couple suggestions I have for /jp/.The first being the image limit. I'd like to try setting it at 300 images/300 post bump limit (Currently 150/300). Theres two kinds of threads I can categorize:1. Image dumps that usually hit that 150 pretty fast, and then the thread gets abandoned in favor a new one. (Most touhou threads, Kigurumi, Train cam, Japanese scenery, Idol threads sometimes)2: Discussion threads where posts will likely hit 500 before even 10 images get posted. (Kantai Collection, Most VN Generals, Vn Translation, /jp/ Projects, and most every other thread as our users aren't as fond of reaction images as other boards.)I'm suggesting this because i've noticed been a recent trend where users are trying to discourage others from posting images (On an imageboard, no less) to save room for "more important" pictures, in particular the Idol posters and Kantai threads. I think this will benefit the rest of the board as the usual imagedump threads will have less duplicates from people wanting to continue a themed thread, and once the original thread gets maxed out on its image limit it will have already hit its bump limit as well, letting the thread slide peacefully away. I think the increased image limit would be balanced out by the large number of threads that don't frequently post images anyway, and this will not affect them in the slightest bit. There's been a troublemaker that bumps abandoned threads for whatever reason, but this is more of a side effect "cure" for that I suppose.
Secondly, the post timer, specifically the new thread creation timer. As it currently stands, its aburdly long and only punishes those who make on-topic threads. It does nothing to limit actual spammers. The main reason for this is when an off-topic post, or spam, gets deleted that post timer gets reset. Our ever present spammer remakes his threads every 15 minutes as soon as the mutes expire. Meanwhile everybody else has to deal with the next 3 (is it 3?) hours of downtime if they maxed their thread out and want to make a new one, or want to correct a mistake in the OP on things like comikets, VNTS, kantai, or idols. If the timer could be reduced to maybe 1 hour, and have some way to not reset that timer on thread deletion, that would keep the number of BRs i'd have to send for specific spammers WAY down. As it is, if I don't BR them then the thread gets reposted within the next 5 minutes guaranteed. Granted this would probably just make them reset their routers more often, but its still one more step they have to take to be a problem while easing up on our normal users.Thirdly: If the image limit changes happen, could /jp/ get a short sticky mentioning this, as well as a reminder to use the catalog and reporting features, and take it easy and such?Fourthly: Any chance on getting local/global ban request templates for "4chan/jp is not your blog" or a local one for starting inter-community flamewars? Similar to the one /v/vp/vr/ has for console and genwars.
>>3440>>3441 I support these ideas. As a whole, the current spammer are barely affected by the thread timer, mainly because we currently have only one guy who keeps posting the same threads every time, and he easily deals with the limit because of the reset when his threads are deleted. The image limit being adjusted would also be quite helpful, considering imagedumps are quite common in /jp/, even if we also gather a lot of dicussion. The flamewar/not your blog template would be interesting, although I don't see it as a priority. For now, revamping the timer system would be more helpful to the board.
