The ban reason for /k/'s off topic BR is "Off-topic; all images and discussion should pertain to firearms, military vehicles, knives, realistic mil-sim games, and other weapons."What falls under mil-sim games? Airsoft? Paintball? Simulation videogames?/k/ gets several threads a day about these topics. Usually the response for airsoft and paintball is uniformly "Take it to /asp/" The response for simulator videogames is different, some want the discussion to stay in /k/ and some want it in /v/, usually depending on the game.Should I just go with the flow and exile airsoft/paintball to /asp/ like it's always been or should I start letting this kinda thing fly? Are some game allowed in /k/ or should I crack down and throw them all into /v/?I guess I'm just looking for a bit of insight. I've been going with majority rules with making calls on these things up until now, but I can see how someone would be frustrated for getting a thread deleted or a ban for being technically "on topic" in their mind.
Here's my take:Paintball goes to /asp/.Airsoft and nerf go to /toy/.Non-weapon related games go to /v/."Mil-Sim" games like Arma, VBS, DCS A10, and the like are OK, as they attempt to realistically portray military equipment and they are also used by many militaries for training.Non-realistic games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Fallout, Stalker, etc, are definitely tertiary but occasionally have a place in "board culture" (Stalker especially). Moreover, they have been permitted for so long that attempting to remove them would not be worth the backlash.
>>3531I think airsoft is more /asp/ than /toy/, people can get pretty into it. It's essentially paintball with more realistic guns and gear. Regardless, they're not /k/.As for the videogames, you're spot on to what I was thinking.
One more thing.Do gun regulation/gun laws/gun control threads belong on /k/? Should I try and keep them in /pol/?At any given time there's about five or six of these threads on /k/, 90% of the time it's just a huge pile of trolls and antisemitic bullshit.
>>3533People are going to want to talk about gun laws. It does pertain to weapons, and it's going to be impossible to stop them as it's something the users of /k/ are going to be very passionate about. So long as they focus on gun laws and don't stray into general liberal bashing and JEWS!!!11 shit, then I say let them.
One more topic I'm concerned about on /k/."Skinwalker" threads. Basically threads that consist of massive amounts of greentext and screencaps of stories about spooky creatures that roam around in the woods.I'm thinking they should be moved to /x/, and a large majority of the board agrees. However they do somewhat relate to the whole "go inna woods" theme /k/ has made for itself. There's also some pretty decent discussion in these threads.Normally I'd leave one alone to float around, but recently these threads have been popping up constantly. Should I start cracking down on these?
>>3561A hard position you're in. +>They can at least somewhat relate to the board's intended subject matter >Reasonable, if not good discussion is derived from these threads->Apart from the innawoods, topic is almost entirely /x/ material>Frequency of threads at any given time is increasing>Board consensus is in favor of moving them to /x/It seems to me that if they continue to blow through threads at an exceptional pace they should be told to move to /x/ by a mod.
>>3531I think Nerf can stay on /k/. Like Willis' draw threads, Nerf has got a bit of a soft spot on /k/.
>>3722I've been scrubbing nerf off since I started, same with airsoft. I'm thinking if we let one in then the other will follow soon, and then /k/ would burn to the ground. The feedback about airsoft is already as negative as possible.Unless you want to deal with the countless "why is this allowed but airsoft isn't?" complaints and other off topic subjects creeping in and eventually becoming board culture. It's enough trouble with the innawoods threads and radio threads.Willis' was always welcome, same with other drawfriend/OC threads because he was on topic with his work. They where all /k/ related.
Just a heads up to anyone who's also /k/.These "parkourdude" threads are back. Hit them for off topic asap and they tend to die off for a few months.Bullying the autistic isn't weapons related.
>>3913I've been hitting those for a while now, they never really went away, they just pop up every now and again.
People are really starting to spam this RIP round bullshit. It's always been bad but now I think we have other boards invading us with this spam. It needs to be stopped.Just finished with each report on /k/, and came back an hour later to 6 threads on the topic, one had 18 reports. This is unheard of on /k/. In my entire time watching over this board the most reports for a single thread I've seen was about 6.People are making threads asking mods to ban them on site. I'm doing what I can but I'm also working pretty much 10 hours a day now.
Where should I stand with these new "/k/ radio" threads? They're popping up a lot lately, advertisement?
