Take this post, made two hours after someone posts a request with no related image in the middle at 1am. >i wish this board had some mods that spent time on it that or at least some active janitors to clean away all these trash requests even if they cant ban they'd still be gone...too bad i didn't get selected oh well too bad so sad so we'll sage till the cows come home.
Maybe if he did this job, he'd realize that Janitors aren't robots who can monitor boards 24/7 and delete bad posts in under two hours in the dead of the night. Takes every fiber of my being not to say something back to them.
Post your user-related annoyances here so we can all laugh. LAUGH.
Meh, some people just don't seem to get it. Pretty big deal made out of NO LOLI IN /T yet some members literally refused to stop posting the torrents until they were banned. For some reason they felt it was their right as a common visitor to bend the rules to their will.
I've also noticed a sharp increase in "MODS are fags for leaving this post up, when it was deleted last time" despite them never reporting it in any way.
>>738 reposts of jailbait and/or CP really gets on my nerves. so do all the posts about people's shitty girlfriends with bad quality pictures. then they post again saying "HEY WEHERE'D MY THREAD GO!?!?!"
i am all about getting a second board. I still don't think /mu/ has a janitor (if it does ... uh ... hi.) and it was my second choice.
obviously it's up to the mods, but I don't think you'd get much of an argument out of anyone if you assigned us another board, unless they're already working on the really high traffic ones.
Every time a fag goes on a crusade because you deleted his falco/fox porn thread, and spends the next two hours posting the thread as much as humanly possible.
I once had a guy doing who kept saying he didn't have a job and that he would do this forever.
Our current janitorial staff is already spread too thin. We've been planning on accepting more applications for a while now, and plan to do so starting tomorrow (2/16).
>>750 I can do more if you want. But I don't exactly know what I can really do. I frequent /a/, /c/, /ck/, /v/, and /w/ fairly often and /g/ and /wg/ less so. Those are the boards that I know well, but if you need help elsewhere, I guess I can't contribute.
reposts. i seriously fail to understand the logic people have at times. i delete things off page 0 all the time (sometimes the first post on the board) and not five minutes later it's reposted verbatim, occassionally with "omg /r/ is fast i went to take a shit and my thread was gone lol" appended to it.
also the huge rule-breaking threads full of flames and sages and not a single report. that's probably a common theme.
Are we looking at getting more janitors for every board, or just the ones that require more supervision? I'm not sure how it works already, but will we be advised to be in contact with fellow janitors of the same board should extras be assigned?
Janitor's aren't allowed to janitor multiple boards. I did it for a while (for /a/, and /v/) for about six months and all it did was make me hate both boards that much more. I mean, best to just stick to one board.
Actually, for me, browsing /e/ now gives me an itchy trigger finger, wishing I had the same powers I did in /h/. But if that's the rule, I won't argue.
Well rules are rules, but /gif/ takes about 1 minute to read over 5 pages, look for trolls, spam, illegal stuff, etc. then I'm done and I wait for new posts to be made.
>>763 when i'm browsing other boards i usually report things i feel should be looked at, because 4chan users usually sage or further troll the tread but dont report. if each janitor did this it would make our jobs alot easier for each other
On a related note of helping other people by reporting stuff, I think Janitors shouldn't be subjected to the delay required between reports on other boards. Perhaps eliminate the delay when a Janitor is logged in?
>>768 That sounds like a good idea, if possible. It should especially be eliminated on their own boards. You'd think that wouldn't be much of an issue, but occasionally I'll be logged into my account on another computer without the extension. The report page is just a simple URL, easy to access, and letting us report faster would help us in those cases.
>>771 Couldn't the mods just create a new global password that would let us select multiple posts per page to report? Then if for any reason it got out, the worst that happens is report spamming, which could be solved quickly and has less risk.
>>774 >>775 Yes. It will only report the first one you select. After reporting one post, there is a time delay before you can report another one. This is probably in place to discourage rampant abuse of the report system. But I am unaware of exactly how long the wait period is in between reports. 30 seconds?
modifyng the report system to treat us special is probably low on the list of things to change around here. besides, if one of us spots something serious on a board we don't janitor, we should bring it up in the IRC channel. the chances of us getting the proper janitor's attention or a mod's attention by setting off a highlight is greater than just hoping they see the leaves turn yellow/red.
