Everyday Magick
Everyday magick is a concept I have come up with to describe magick with simplicity; I want people to understand how they are practicing magick right now and how their every thought and action counts if they wish to ascend the ranks of self-mastery.
Magick is a natural part of life and we all do it. The difference between a wizard and a mundane is one does it unconsciously and the other intentionally and with awareness. Whether you realize it or not your whole life is shaped by the thoughts, imagination, and intentions of others. You can observe in absolutely everyone the principles of magick being worked out, some to a very great degree of success, and even by people who have never picked up an occult book and made a formal study of the subject yet.
The first thing you must know about every day magick is that every single thought you have influences others (to a degree). This depends on the level of concentration, the emotional intensity of your thoughts, and the degree of resonance or rapport with the subject. Every single thought you ever think about someone is received (normally subconsciously, unless their imaginal senses are highly developed so they can consciously perceive your thoughts) and this has been demonstrated in psychic research. Once received it is processed through that man's mental-emotional (astral) complex.
Every man's life is spun out of the thoughts that are attracted to him and every man lives in an ocean of thoughts. Some thoughts stick better, some are more invasive, some are harder to dislodge, and some can influence more than others. The way thoughts interact, gather, form currents, stick together, etc. is very similar to how radios work. The mind is like a radio.
We mentally influence ourselves and others by obsessing over them and imagining things about them. This happens all the time. If your emotions are fired up very strongly concerning someone and you can't stop thinking about them, you keep repeating mantras (phrases in your mind about them), making mental suggestions, and you think "this is how they are and this is what they believe" and so on you change them. Some of the things we imagine about others is helpful and other things hurt them.
It is not really that complicated to mentally influence others. The basic mechanics of it are simple and can be observed in every day life. It just requires a great deal of refinement of your character/personality and a lot of practice and you will be able to possess the qualities which make for the production of very intense, emotional, powerful thoughts.
If you observe your own thoughts a lot and practice holding silence, you will notice how thoughts enter your mind, thoughts which are not your own and just intrude upon you. If you get the attention of certain people who are really imaginative and whose emotions you stir up, you can absorb all kinds of influences from them; and note changes in your sexuality, temperament, and the functioning of your body until they forget about you. This practice of thought-observation is again something we all do already but we must do it better and more stridently and we must realize we are not our thoughts at all, we are merely spiritual beings (awareness + will) who own these thoughts and draw them to ourselves. The spirit which is eternal and will survive the death of your mind and body.
If you are to be an effective magician, you must always be mindful of how and what you draw the attention of others to. Awareness is an essential quality of spirit, where your awareness is that is where YOU are. When you talk to others control your emotions (charging them up and releasing them behind each thought you think and sentence you speak) and persuade them to think about what you want them to. If you can't push them into a direction of thought you want them to go in, try to confuse them and make them more suggestible. If all else fails, attempt to banish them, using whatever means you have to make them lose interest in you and turn their mind to something else and leave you alone.
The intention behind your every thought and action is magickally potent. The ability to detect the intentions of others is the most effective defence against unwanted influence as well as an opportunity to amplify and accept positive mental suggestions from others. Whenever someone says or in any way suggests anything good about you or which may aid your development make a strong mental effort to absorb it by using your emotions to feel the suggestion as truth and to own it. Whenever they attack you, throw off the suggestion by resonating on the opposite pole, and believing the opposite of what they are trying to impress upon your mind.
