It depends on what Tradition you're working with. Within Christianity and Judaism, he is the Absolute. He in transcendent, but also takes the form of a personal God. I don't necessarily agree with this though. I think that he is the demiurge; he represents the conscious, analytical mind. He embodies materialism, the maya-false reality. What differentiates "him" from the archons is that archons and other such entities are all creations of YHVH. But YHVH was not made in the material world. He comes from the transcendent world. What languages are most useful in practicing magic? I've heard some say your mother tongue is what you should use, but then others go the length of learning things like Hebrew, Sanskrit, Latin and other esoteric languages.

I WAS learning Hebrew, but now I'm not so sure I even want to be involved with the Qabala current.

Now I am thinking about Sansrkit or Classical Chinese to have a more full understanding of the texts, for things like tantra or Tao based magic.

I know some might suggest programming languages, but that whole subject is a can of worms I haven't even tried opening yet.

It really depends on what you're doing. I wouldn't say that learning Sanskrit or Classical Chinese will help you much in understanding ancient texts; it takes so many years that you'd likely be better off studying translations. A lot of it depends on what you believe. Many here think that magic is just human will. But others will tell you that Enochian is powerful. Personally I don't think learning a language is necessary. But if you're a Sufi then obviously you must learn Arabic; if you're a Hindu then you should probably learn Sanskrit. If I were learning a language then it would likely be Sanskrit, or maybe Greek or Latin. But again: it mostly depends on who you are, and what you believe in.

As far as I know, the archons are just servants of the demiurge. They might share traits with YHVH due to being his agents, but they're very different in origin. It's sort of like how, according to the mainstream Christian perspective, Jehovah didn't kill all the Egyptian first-born sons directly - he sent an angel to do it. Christians would still attribute that to God, despite him not being the one actually doing it.

I probably should have also mentioned, about that link, that different people and schools of thought use those terms very differently. Based on that link, I'd be considered an initiate, but to some people if I said I was an initiate they might think that I think I'm better than I really am. It's probably a good enough rough field guide but in my opinion it's always better to avoid labels altogether if you're talking to someone and just think of people in terms of the specific things they've done. You could have had an astral projection but never heard of The Kybalion or the Emerald Tablets, or you could have mastered Goetic evocation and learned enough Enochian to have a conversation but never even gotten to the vibration stage of AP or successfully manifested something.

From what I've read, it's less a choice and more an automatic-ish process based on karmic debt and how advanced you've become throughout your previous lives. So, for example, if your karmic debt at the time of your death is such that it would cause you to suffer, you might incarnate as a Haitian child circa 2010, but if you're super advanced you might incarnate in an easy-to-live-in Western country where you can have an easy enough life to do what's necessary to leave third density for good. I wrote it as "if your karmic debt is such that it would do x" in case you aren't aware that karma isn't based on you deserving things. That implies objective morality. It's more about interactions between different kinds of energies. Think of it like chemical reactions or something (I can't think of a better analogy but that probably wasn't a great explanation of karmic debt anyway).

I honestly find it hard to choose what magic I want to practice. The only thing I've ever done is the lesser ritual of the pentagram, basic meditation, lucid dreaming, and occasionally have dreams reveal things to me. As a Westerner, Abrahamic practices come more naturally; however, I'm too much of a gnostic to be comfortable with a lot of those practices. I'll have a lot of free time in the coming months. You can be pretty confident that you've lived this exact life at least once in the past. Technically speaking, through the right practices, you could regain the memories of that life and not even waste your time waiting for death.

Unfortunately I can't confidently give an answer as to whether or not you can choose the time and place of your Eternal Return. But I'll still give some thoughts on it. In order to 'reincarnate' into a place out of curiosity you would have to wield your conscious mind. Most people, in death, only have their unconscious mind. Ending this life in full position of both your conscious and unconscious mind is the ultimate goal; it is gnosis; it is lightning and sun, hermaphroditic. Needless to say it is not an easy task. Should you win this ultimate victory, it seems unlikely that you would throw it away for no reason. The only viable Return an enlightened individual would make would be as a Bodhisattva - a man who has triumphed over the cosmic cycles, but chooses to save his fellow man out of pure compassion.

Quite frankly I cannot give any insight into placing conditions on a possible return. I've always considered it a rather unimportant thing in comparison to your potential role as a messiah.

IIH takes most people years to complete if they don't give up. I remember seeing a survey somewhere once. It might have been on some kind of Rawn Clark-affiliated website. It was to do with how long it took most people to complete it. I remember the minimum being something like a year or two, and the average being more than 5 years, but even then, only around 10% actually completed the thing (it was a survey of around 300 people IIRC). You could do IIH, but it takes some serious dedication. If you're just starting out with practical occultism, it might be a good idea to do something else first that bolsters your belief and understanding so that you have the confidence to do big things that would make beginners give up almost immediately. If you'll have a lot of free time for a consistent period, astral projection is an obvious one since there are a lot of explanations and books. What worked best for me was reality creation. Starting with something small, like manifesting an emotion you don't often feel, then gradually getting bigger (maybe a rare material possession you couldn't get otherwise, then maybe some kind of big opportunity, and bigger from there) is a good way to do it.

As useful as it is having a set structure like we have on /fringe/, it's not necessarily what everyone needs to do. I spent about three months on IIH without being able to get past step 1. I also spent about two months on Robert Bruce's Mastering Astral Projection 90-day course without having a proper astral projection. There isn't anything you're specifically meant to do based on what other people tell you. It's a very subjective thing. Once I stopped worrying about what everyone on /fringe/ thought was the best path, and I started listening to intuition without doubting it, crazy, crazy shit started happening, and now I'm doing what I think I'm actually meant to be doing and I'm making decent progress. So, my point is, if you're looking for a starting point, Initiation Into Hermetics might be a good place, but don't blindly listen to /fringe/'s recommended reading list. Intuition knows best. Intuition can either specifically guide you through weird meditation methods, or it could guide you to the right book. Supplementing that with simple forms of practical occultism that reinforce your awareness (like that random number thing too - speaking of which, if you've never heard of it, look into the Global Consciousness Project) will speed up your development.

I'm honestly not sure what to do. Astral projection sounds interesting, but I'm a bit afraid of it due to the frequency at which my lucid dreams turn into nightmares. The problem is that there's nothing else I can really think of to practice; nothing stands out. I like the idea of starting off small and working up to grand things though. Same as with mewing, it's somewhat related to posture and muscle control. You can't really "use" your bones like you can exercise musles, so while not knowing a lot of the biology behind it, I assume it's a combination of different activities and your mindset triggering the growth. It's just an autonomous function of the body, which you can activate.

I have done a lot of deadlifting and squatting with a focus on technique, walking, back exercises and so on. I don't know what part did it or if it was the combination of all of it. I'm leaning towards the mindset making the biggest difference.

I've had dreams where I felt my right leg being way longer and it made it hard to walk. In reality it's never been an issue, but there was a noticable tilt of my pelvis to the left side when standing with both legs straight. This resulted in a habit of always leaning on my left leg. I've changed this by remaining aware of it and putting my weight on my right leg instead. I also changed the way I carry my bag over one shoulder to the other shoulder, switched hand for the computer mouse (alternating now and then) and kept aware of my posture at all times to correct the imbalance. It may just be that, to put the right kind of strain on the body.

I am at a constant low level of anxiety due to worrying that people I love will leave me or die. I fear my own death too because it means I cannot be with them anymore. I have decided I need a religion to cure my existential dread. Which religion is the right one?

Any religion will tell you of some variation of an afterlife/otherworld. That should be enough evidence that there's [something] there and that death is not the end.

The details of that/those otherworld(s) will depend on the religion in question, so really it's just a matter of flavor.

The fact is that there are millions/infinite and that there are ~9-16 primary "flavors" of otherworld (counting our own). Norse Tree of Life or Kabbalah Tree of Life are probably the two best models to begin with before you learn details.

Of course, the best source is going there yourself, no amount of "studying" can make up for doing the work. Go look for answers and you'll find them, but you have to look first.

How the fuck do I fall asleep? It's 3:39 AM and I've tried everything. TL;DR: I have many reasons unrelated to my mental state to kill myself, skip to the last paragraph for my question.

This post is a "baww I wanna kill myself" post, feel free to skip it unless you are feeling kind enough to tolerate my bullshit. I am going to blogpost about my shitty life here, to prove to you that I have many reasons for suicide outside of mental illness.

My family is composed of people that are either a) ex or current drug addicts or b) have cluster B personality disorders. I live with an abusive single mother that is both a NEET, and hasn't had a job in over seven years. She's survived by going to enough doctors, until one finally agreed with her and diagnosed me with a disability that I don't even have. She uses this diagnosis from a single doctor both to justify why she's not working, and to claim disability money for me. She also uses this diagnosis to discount absolutely everything I say that disagrees with her opinion, no matter how much evidence that there is to support my reasoning.

I have a medical condition that makes my life miserable and is expensive to treat, but is not covered by my country's shitty health system. My high school education is split across two countries, and the country that I'm currently living in refuses to acknowledge my foreign high school education. That means that I can't even fucking get a high school degree without repeating most of high school all over again. I have no connections or work experience either, so I would be lucky to land a burger flipping job. However, I need a job that pays decently to cover my medical costs.

I am well and truly screwed, so much so that a reroll seems justifiable. My suicide method of choice would be waiting for the train to come, and then laying my neck on the railway. I know it sucks to involve other people in my suicide, but it's hard to get a gun in my country, and I'm too much of a pussy for jumping. I'm also wary of any method that could leave me a vegetable rather than killing me, because then I'd be stuck with my mother until she dies, and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that she would use the situation to leech as much pity for herself as possible. She loves to play the martyr and the victim.

My main problem, as I see it, is my total inability to get a job. With the alternative to escape my predicament being suicide, what can a total noob to magic such as myself do?

Nigger we have confronted him every single day for the last two years and we have always told him that we only want our privacy back. I'm still struggling to actually practice magic instead of just reading theory. With Abrahamic stuff my gnosticism goes into overdrive and I wonder if what I'm doing/reading is satanic. But I also dislike rootless modern magic. I imagine there must be something Greek or Hindu that would be more comfortable for a picky autist like me. Any advice?

I think that is the point. In Prometheus Rising the author compares the Kabbalah to a Zen koan, claiming that the purpose of both is to frustrate and exhaust the intellect until the point where it collapses, allowing the practitioner to see beyond. It's the same thing Master Nan Huai-Chin claims about Vajrayana Buddhism and its infinitely complex, bullshit rituals. They're all just trying to overload the mind to the point of collapse.

It's a painful, long-winded method, but I'm sure it works. Probably.
