Time for an Advaita thread.

What is Advaita? It's just about the most based system of mysticism/metaphysics/esoterism ever

TLDR:

>from the 9th-8th century BC onwards all the way down to the early first millenium AD the Hindu Upanishads and many other texts like the Bhagavad-Gita were composed, all containing ideas that some describe as monism, idealism, neoplatonism, panentheism etc but nobody exactly agrees on what the meaning is

>All these different schools of Hindu philosophy and non-Hindu schools of thought (including Buddhism) largely emerge out of the context of the ideas contained in the Upanishads and the themes they discuss viz their metaphysics, cosmology, ontology, etc

>in the 8th century AD this child prodigy Shankara is born who becomes initiated as a sannyasin (religious ascetic) at like the age of 7 or 8 and by age 11 is writing massive commentaries explaining the true meaning of the Upanishads and other texts

>his commentaries simultaneously irrefutably establish the true consistent meaning of all the Hindu scriptures like the Gita and Upanishads and at the same time logically refuting every other school who claims to teach the truth like Vaisheshika, Yoga, Samkhya, Mimansa, Nyaya, Jainism and Buddhism, all in the same text; all while having top-tier Sanskrit prose

>single-handedly revives Hinduism and comes to be known as one of the greatest Hindu thinkers

>largely reaches the same conclusions about the unity of existence that Neoplatonism, Sufism, etc reach but uses ironclad logic to prove it through extensive arguments and dialectic

>refutes most of the Buddhist schools of his time, is credited with the near-vanishing of Buddhism from India, the Buddhists were never able to write a serious refutation to his ideas or Advaita, to this day you can't mention him on forums heavily populated by Buddhists without causing a bunch of autistic screeching (this is not to say all buddhism is bad though and some areas of later Mahayana philosophy come close to agreeing with Advaita)

> that would be the same charge levied against ontological nondualists by epistemological nondualists, who could claim that ontological nondualists do not apply their own principles back on those principles in order to come to a full understanding of what nondual really implies.

Epistemological non-dualists don't have any valid critiques of ontological non-dualists and no Buddhist thinker ever wrote any. If by epistemological non-dualists you refer to schools of Mahayana Buddhism that's highly ironic since Buddha's ideas largely come from the pre-Buddhist Upanishads that Advaita is also based on. The Mahayana Buddhists after Buddha mostly remained ignorant of the Upanishads and early Vedanta, and then after Vedanta finally began to flourish and was refuting Mahayana and Theravada doctrines left and right the Mahayanists were unable to come up with any cogent response. The Mahayana Buddhists mostly ignored Vedanta and in the few texts where they mention it they didn't understand it very well and they failed to refute it by ascribing mutually incompatible ideas to it that Advaita doesn't even hold and then claiming that these contradictions are proof of it's wrongness (Bhaviveka makes this mistake and failed to refute anything). Most of the time when epistemological non-dualists complain about Advaita online if's because they create an imaginary strawman of regarding Advaita as a substance ontology without realizing that Advaita also extensively uses negation and apophatic theology/ontology, and indeed that the 'anatta' negation of Buddhism stems from the 'not this, not this' of the pre-buddhist Brihadaranyaka Upanishad.

>It's taught in Vedanta that Brahman exists forever as eternal bliss that is forever at rest, forever contented, without need of anything; what purpose what motion or activity play here?

And yet our experience is a proof of the existence of motion and transmigration.

>When all desires are satisfied, when there is no hole in one's heart that needs to be filled, what could be the point of activity, there is nothing that activity would add to this other than being a needless distraction.

So how did this universe came into being? If the eternal Brahman is not endowed with the capacity for action then nothing could have ever happened, including the perceived differentiation into objects and subjects, which is our condition. Conversly - any action could not have taken place either - including dropping of wrong views regarding the Self.

>That term applies far more to non-dual teachers like Ramanuja and Abhinavagupta (even though I do respect them) who preached non-duality but who weren't willing to take up the ascetic/renunciate lifestyle and would come up with justifications why it wasn't needed.

Why would non-dual teachings require renounciation? On the contrary - if the whole of reality is an expression of yourself then what would you renounce and for what reason? Everything is equally permeated with divine consciousness, if something was more sacred than other then it would make a doctrine preaching such a thing dualistic.

>Shankara was the one who actually practiced what he preached by living as a possessionless monk

Abhinava never preached a necessity for not having possessions (on the basis of scriptures) so you can't say that he was a hypocrite. On the contrary - he fully embodied his teachings and was a realized master in many lineages of Tantra, posessing many siddhis and leading countless others towards enlightenment. If he were a possessionless monk - that would be hyprocritical.

"The individual soul is a cognizer, a conscious agent, who consists of everything [that arises in its sphere of experience]; therefore, as the Spanda-kārikās teach, "the state that is not Consciousness does not exist in words, thoughts, or things," whether past, present, or future. The real meaning of this verse is that everything has God as its real nature. – And since it is so, the conscious perceiver is an active *experiencer* who exists as the feeling-state of the given object of experience, yet remains the same, neither lessened nor increased, at all times and in all loci of experience, such as the various tattvas and worlds. Nor can any object of experience whatsoever be something separate from its experiencer. So the Spanda-kārikā verse (2.4) establishes that in actuality there is no difference whatsoever between Śiva and the individual soul. Thus, one should not think oneself incomplete or imperfect with regard to any state of the body, mind, etc. On the contrary, one should know “My essence-nature is Śiva, undivided Awareness, in the form of this very state.”"

"The Great Lord is the power-holder and His

powers are the universe.

I want to counter the malicious energies that are directed at us and the Earth. I want to target specific places and direct energy there - Leylines, Earth grid, places where extreme weather occurs, where military conflicts are occurring are the places of interest and maybe, maybe places of Satanic Ritual Sacrifice. If I have the balls.

I started a thread on halfX asking for advice and trying to convince them to coordinate a group practice thing. Ever since I did that, some bad stuff started happening to me, nothing major, just unpleasant. My left knee got "overworked" or something. Anyway as I was searching the internet for any type of Earth healing ritual magick and was finding crumbs, an idea dawned on me that perhaps this information is suppressed and then the door slammed really hard which didn't happen before or after that day. Yes the window was open but still I consider it a synchronicity. It didn't slam before or after.

I tried to invent with my own ritual (something I have no experience in) and came up with chants that could accompany the ritual / meditation.

I'm also tyring to use numerology and pick specific words to make the chant more powerful. I'm using Pythagorean / simple Gematria. I'm not even sure which system to use. Some say the Chaldean is more accurate. IDK; if there's any experienced numerologists out there please advise.

LOVE EARTH ETERNAL = 181 = 10

Firstly, if you pronounce these words out loud you'll find that they sound really profound and powerful. I found some really positive things about number 10, and I liked the feminine / masculine balancing aspect.

And 181. Apparently it's an angelic number with good power of manifestation.

If we look at the initials "L E E" they add up to 22, which is "the Master Builder".

LOVE THE EARTH HEART = 191 = 11 sounds a hair weaker and is more of a mouthful, but the numerology of the words is probably a bit stronger. It shouldn't be a problem if it's long, as long as it works, right? I cPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Stefan Molyneux did a video on Plato.

His arguments are basically:

>hurr higher realms can't exist

>Plato was gay (no really, he accuses him of being part of the ancient "gay community" over and over)

>ignores the definition of a philosopher king

>muh dicatorship/totalitarianism/fascism/communism

>lots of talk about Plato supposedly supporting taking children away from their parents and being owned by the state (not sure if he's full of shit or this was an actual thing by Plato)

>muh "rape lottery"

>Plato advocating censorship of the arts

I don't trust Molyneux's review on Plato at all it seems like a lot of horseshit he's pulling up from nowhere I'd like to see his sources.

This is utterly and completely irrelevant. A rational person would suspend judgement in such a case. It is fallacious to assume the truth of a claim simply because there is no evidence to the contrary, and thus Molyneux's beliefs are not based in empiricism at all.

<"But I ask. How can we have free will if praying is supposed to be effective?"

this is a great question and it has a great answer. God is all powerful and knows everything. God created everything. since God created everything, God controls everything. since God controls everything, there is no such thing as free will. God created free will, but since God created free will, God controls it, so there is no free will but of course this is a special paradox created by God. since God created paradoxes, God also controls paradoxes. God controls all, in true reality and in fake reality. It doesn't have to make sense to our imperfect human minds. since God knows everything and is all knowing and all powerful, God is responsible for all the thoughts that enter your mind. God knows all the thoughts you ever had, all the thoughts you ever could have had, all the thoughts you might ever have, all the thoughts you will never have, and all the thoughts you will have. because of this, technically speaking, prayer is obsolete and isn't necessary. that being said, things like prayer do make God happy. God likes it when you pray even though God already knows what you are going to pray. it's just a nice thing on our part, a small effort as if to say that we are doing this nice little thing for God because we know it pleases God. I hope this answers your question.

I'm going to make a nice prayer now right here.

please God almighty the one and only God the most wise and the most powerful who is our God and our heaven, hear my prayer. thank you for allowing 8chan to exist so that we imperfect human beings who are secretly the greatest philosophers of our time and yet rejects of an even more imperfect society could be allowed to converge here and discuss what need be discussed with true freedom of speech by your will. thank you God for sending your voice to us so that we may have a positive and good effect on the world. >If you maintain your anti-religious views you are forfeiting your right to exist as a human on this plane and will face the karmic consequences of such acts!

>Religion did a great job of protecting humanity, becase humanity still exists! If there had been no religion you wouldn't be online typing that, because you would be extinct!

Saying that religion did a great job of protecting humanity is like saying that hardcore illegal street drugs did a great job of making many people feel better because humanity still exists. Lets just totally disregard how many lives have been destroyed by hardcore illegal street drugs (and the gang wars, drug wars, and actual wars it's created) as well as religion and the wars it's created right? Just because something bad existed and posed a challenge to humanity- and humanity survived doesn't mean that it was entirely beneficial or even good at all. because of religion, people were tortured in dungeons because their beliefs didn't line up with the beliefs of those who were torturing them.

Religion has been one of the biggest methods by which human beings have manipulated and controlled each other as well as one of the biggest reasons for almost every single war that has ever been fought up until and including modern history. Protecting humanity? Religion is a scam. It's a business just like war. "Hey be very afraid so give your church all this money because god needs your money and he loves you but you're going to hell forever so no killing, meanwhile go kill all these people because they don't believe what you believe! also, do whatever we say or god will be very upset with you!"

>"Hey let me in!, Who is it? It's jesus let me in! Why? Because I need to protect you! From what? FROM WHAT I'M GOING TO DO TO YOU IF YOU DON'T LET ME IN!"

Religion is a cucked up scam that distances people from God. why worship an impefect human created system when I can just worship God directly?

Very similar example can be found in first six star wars movies by george lucas.

>Jedi rules forbid attachment (but promotes compassion) (as they wage wars for political/religious bullshit, and ignore the cries for help from others who are in need like anakins dying mother)

So love isn't forbidden since compassion is like universal love as anakin explains in episode 2 I believe. This attatchment isn't about love, it's just any attachment at all. Some of the crystal chakra anons say similar things sometimes as an example. (meh…)

>All Jedi are ignorant to the fact that they are all very attached to the Jedi Order

This is a huge problem because they start to think the way that brainwashed liberals or lazy burnt out conservatives do (Plenty of offense intended, but in good will. Rediscover your roots) Liberals in the old fashioned sense wanted more freedom for good reasons. Conservatives in the old fashioned sense want to preserve or conserve and protect what freedom already exists. our founding fathers of our country USA were a special mix of old fashioned liberal and conservative in the same body, per each individual. In 2019, Liberals run wild demanding the destruction of freedom and Conservatives are lazy sleeping hippos that don't conserve anything. Both suffer from an immense lack of Self Awareness. The reason the USA was successful was that people had a balance of the right types of liberal and conservative thought with a very high amount of self awareness… for their time, yea nothing is perfect, I know. I'm not making a force balance argument here. I think that the sith, jedi, grey, are all BS. You can have any powers and use any color light saber but how you use them is what makes you good or bad. Titles are just a BS mask.

Similarly, different religions make a serious effort to warn their believers or readers to avoid intentionally or accidentally worshipping false gods or false idols but fail to properly warn anyone against falling victim to considering the religion and its books and symbolism as idols as gods. At the end of every religion, people forget about the god that is mentioned in its pages, and they bend over and bow down and woPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

I have once read a quote from the Marxists of China and from Mao Tse Tung, that "materialism" explains the reality of the Universe.

If this is so, we might jump to the conclusion that "Natural Philosophy" explains that reality, as Westerners may have believed in times past.

What does think is a pretty dacent introduction to Natural Philosophy? Like the old school natural philosophy?

I think others have said the best introduction would be Aristotle, or even earlier philosophies on such subjects from Greece.

Maybe Thales?

>Herbert Spencer, (born April 27, 1820, Derby, Derbyshire, England—died December 8, 1903, Brighton, Sussex), English sociologist and philosopher, an early advocate of the theory of evolution, who achieved an influential synthesis of knowledge, advocating the preeminence of the individual over society and of science over religion. His magnum opus was The Synthetic Philosophy (1896), a comprehensive work containing volumes on the principles of biology, psychology, morality, and sociology. He is best remembered for his doctrine of social Darwinism, according to which the principles of evolution, including natural selection, apply to human societies, social classes, and individuals as well as to biological species developing over geologic time. In Spencer’s day social Darwinism was invoked to justify laissez-faire economics and the minimal state, which were thought to best promote unfettered competition between individuals and the gradual improvement of society through the “survival of the fittest,” a term that Spencer himself introduced.

Had a good run lads but I can't really live anymore, only thing stopping me from killing myself are relatives I don't wanna hurt. Is there any kind of magick that can actually drastically change my reality? Something massively different like make me appear in a completely different dimension/drastically change my body/reverse time? Something like sigils or other simple methods like this for manifesting small changes won't ever be enough to fix my problems. I tried everything else by the way so no need to lecture on psychology/philosophy in this thread. You can realise the illusion/matrix of the material world experientially and still prefer to not live because of the unfixable predicament you're in. If there is truly some way to bring about changes as massive as I have outlined then I would put all my time into the study of it really. Thanks in advance brothers.

Exodus from this place or just monitor it. Read an occult book written before 1980. Practice various meditation forms and the art of controlling your thoughts and impulses. And don't initiate yourself into chaos magic until you understand the cosmology of the roots, which lies in the hermetic or eastern arts and sciences. Don't let the degenerates here warp your mind. They serve their own interests, spin lies, and hope for "loosh". Which is just a fancy way of being a useless troll who can't even bear fruit for themselves.

I wish you all luck. All others can burn in mental agony, as they already are. Misery loves company.

Hey folks! I have some questions and this place might be the one I've been looking for (this is actually my second time opening this domain). I've done some research over angles and their power, I have to say I feel quite attracted to angelic magic even though I've never done any ritual nor something similar. My first question is: Can you give me some heads up in where to look for more info and posibly even a link to an Angelic Grimoire? And that leads to my second question being: Do I have to do or use some protection rituals before starting an angelic invocation?

I think that would be all for now, lads. Thank you and good night.

I think it depends, but usually these rituals aren't just written willy-nilly. Afaik you channel information for the ritual via invocation or possession. Additionally the involved entities tend to enchant the chants and spells and infuse them with their essence so as to drastically highten the potency of said spells. According to some occultists it is the specific words in their order that get enchanted for greater effect, which is why some claim that translating them is not advised.

However! Intention always matters much more than the thing being picture-perfect. If you feel the spells working just as much in your native tongue, then translate them. I'd be interested to hear about possible differences.

So I ended up here, .

From /pol/, through /fit/, to abandoning halfchan altogether, and finding this board while looking for books.

I am looking for knowledge. I want to reach my highest potential, physically, mentally and spiritually.

I've stopped using social media, playing videogames, masturbating, eating anything outside of my strict diet. I started exercising, reading a lot (theory), sleeping on the floor, I use a fluoride filter for water, stopped drinking caffeine, alcohol, any other drugs. And I've ran out of ideas. Currently I'm beginning to meditate and trying out the exercises I found in "Forbidden Parapsychology", which was recommended in one of the threads here.

So, I'm here to ask for book recommendations, practices I can add to my routine, anything that can improve my physical, mental and spiritual health. I just begun my quest for knowledge.

My current booklist is:

>Prometheus Rising

>Quantum Psychology

>Works of Evola and Guenon

>The Will by Atkinson

>Liber Null

>How to Know Higher Worlds by Steiner

>The Kybalion

>Angel Tech by Antero Alli

>The Art of True Healing by Israel Regardie

>Lazy Man's Guide to Relaxation

>The Secret Teachings of All Ages

>works of Gurdjieff, Collin and Ouspensky

>Kali Kaula by Jan Fries

>Science of Breath

>Futhark, A Handbook of Rune Magic

>The Gnostic Bible

>Works of Savitri Devi and Miguel Serrano

Anything worth adding/removing from the list? It's obviously chaotic, as I'm just a beginner.

Why are you posting these shill images that point to a website that immediately redirects to a shady url that would probably install a virus on my computer if I didn't have a script blocker?

And by the way it's pitiful to pretend that you can block curses with the impotent new age hippy bullshit you're pushing. If you're attacked and don't immediately set to completely and utterly destroying your attacker, you're completely at their mercy.

Also if you weren't such a pitiful whelp afraid of metaphysically asserting your dominance over others you wouldn't have to resort to shilling in order to feed yourself. Which ironically is just a cruder, more ineffective form of psychic manipulation.

Exactly. He’s not only trying to manipulate people into his believe system, but on top of that he’s doing it like a coward.

Forgot to add, on top of mainstream ideas out of chaos theory i.e. the butterfly effect, the actual potential for action at a distance based on retroactive causality could be endless.

 No.128945

Look up the equations of magic in the book Liber Kaos by Peter J Carroll. The author takes a non-dogmatic and results focused stance on magic. He talks about The various factors in making a change in your reality, both that work for you and against you. the biggest takeaway is that you need to have high levels of concentration and a strong link to whatever you wish to change. A factor that works against you is how much you desire the outcome.

I got started in the magick world through chaos magick. It is the perfect way to get into magick because it focuses on pragmatism, critical thinking, and mental fluidity (don't stay stuck in one paradigm, shift your beliefs, work within multiple frameworks, don't be stuck up with you preconceived notions about reality but be ready to take on new assumptions at a whim and to throw away old beliefs if necessary and revive them later a time if necessary. Even though I like Hermetics so much and know it to be truth, I wouldn't have figured out how true it is, had I not got my start in chaos magick first.

Replying to old digits. This is true, but you need to know what you're doing. Otherwise anger and negative emotions in general will fuck you up if you keep them close without control.

Actual example: if you cast a curse and output a lot of negativity but fail to connect energetically with your target before you open the floodgates, you will create a cloud around you that will affect you more than your target. Also that's why you should learn when to banish after a ritual and when not to.

I want to keep this short and simple.

I have recently grasped the fundamentals of astrology. Now i am providing you with the opportunity to have your chart read for FREE (note that i am not a professional astrologer but i know shit). Wanted to get more experience reading birth charts, so it's a win-win for both of us. You can either post the chart in the thread or you can send it over at 1062@tutanota.com. The chart has to be western tropical, you can get one here: astro.com

If you want to get into astrology, i recommend reading "The Only Way to Learn Astrology: Basic Principles, Vol 1" to get into the basics. There is also a 2nd and a 3rd volume, which i was unable to find. I've found plenty of youtube channels which provide some useful info too.

This thread will also be dedicated to any stuff concerning astrology, tips, books, different systems etc.

I found a way to masturbate (I guess, though the word doesn't really apply) and reach orgasm purely through thought. I found it while following one of those astral projection infographs. The procedure I follow is to lay in bed as if to sleep and concentrate. I eventually reach a state of concentration which I cannot really describe, though somewhat akin to the "middle-state" of astral projectors. Then, I bring to my mind lewd images (images not in the common sense, more like I visualize myself having sex). It is really strong, to the point I can somewhat "actually" feel it in the benis. I feel a kind of "energy" (I guess) coming from my body and concentrating in the lower parts (perhaps in sort of "waves") and eventually the penis, reaching the head there being when I reach orgasm. Orgasm itself is quite powerful.

Now I have various questions about this. What is it that I have stumbled upon, what it deals with, is it beneficial, and all sort of information about it. I try to refrain from it but sometimes lust gets the better from me. For further unformation I stopped mundane masturbation about four months ago.

On a footnote, I could use that same state of meditation to remove a pain I had. It wasn't anything serious, but still.

Same with many other things such as training the body, or going to war (though assertion of the Will is just one part of going to war).

I cured my gender dysphoria in Jesus and reading about occult and secret societies.

It made me realize I have a higher purpse than the genetics of my jaw. Like there a spiritual war going on right now and I am willing to die for it. This is the cure for all ailments…the love of others.

Also they finally took a picture of the first black hole. Literally God just looking at his creations. Literally just God wondering if we have been good little boys and girls. Too bad we've all sinned, we've all been BAD very bad boys and girls all of us. If we don't repent we're going ot suffer all of us! you think life is hell,,,well hell is HELL. Jesus save us.

I wonder why Jesus looked on us today. Scary

Thank you kindly, anon. With this list of scholars you've provided, I will have no shortage of useful study material for the foreseeable future.

It's too bad that there doesn't seem to be any contemporary esotericists who can measure up to the standards of Evola, compared to whom most other occult authors are mere dilettantes; perhaps it's a consequence of the further decline in the age of Kali Yuga. What a shame if the best that the current generation of occultists has to offer is Styxhexenhammer666!

Can anybody upload an ebook or scan The Mask and Face of Contemporary Spiritualism? The book had a ridiculously short print run (not because of Jewish tricks this time) and I can't find a copy anywhere. I'm interested in his valid and crucial take of modern forms of spiritualism being outlets of escapism, and I was also surprised he held Crowley and Gurdjieff in a high or at least a positive regard and want to know more.

Here's the Arktos podcast review of the book.

in that it wasn't spiritual enough, which I guess can be associated with the right due to the tradition of religion. I recall a quote about how it tried to adorn itself with religion like a newly rich man does with culture. But it did it heavy handedly through the catholic church.
